1 person hospitalized following ‘ultra-light plane’ crash in Perry Twp.; FAA investigating

PERRY TOWNSHIP — One person is in the hospital after an, “ultra-light plane’ crash in Perry Township Sunday morning, according to Perry Township Police.

Crews responded to the 600 block of North Preble County Line Road after 9:30 a.m.

Several departments responded, including the Englewood fire crews and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Only one person was in the ultralight aircraft at the time of the crash and suffered non-life threatening injuries, a spokesperson told News Center 7. A report from the Federal Aviation Administration described the injuries as serious.

The occupant was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.

Video from the scene showed the plane was in a cornfield. A FAA report listed the plane involved as a Kolb Firestar II. The report described the plane as being destroyed.

It is unknown at this time what the caused the crash, Perry Township Police said.

The FAA is investigating.
