UPDATE: SWAT standoff at Dayton house ends; wanted shooting suspect still at large

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 3:10 p.m.:

A man who police named as a suspect in shooting in Dayton Monday night was not located after officers received information he might have been in a South Euclid Avenue home Tuesday.

Investigators named Shaquille Shackleford, 27, as the suspect wanted in connection to a shooting on Darst Avenue Monday night. Police, SWAT and hostage negotiators surrounded a house in the 500 block of South Euclid Avenue Tuesday after receiving information Shackleford was at the home, Dayton police Maj. Christopher Malson told News Center 7.

After receiving permission to search the house, officers did not locate Shackleford inside and he remains at large, Malson said.

People with information about Shackleford’s whereabouts or information about the shooting are urged to contact Dayton police or Miami Valley Crime Stoppers.

The victim in Monday’s shooting was alert and speaking with investigators, however his condition was not released.

We’re working to learn more about an active police investigation involving Dayton police, SWAT, and hostage negotiators on South Euclid Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

Callers into this newsroom reported a heavy police response in the area of South Euclid Avenue and Boyer Street shortly before noon.

Officers on the scene declined to release any details about the nature of the investigation.
