Police: 13 and 16-year-old arrested, accused of stealing car in Dayton

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 12:40 p.m.:

Two teens are in custody after allegedly stealing a vehicle in Dayton overnight.

Dayton Police officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Water Street around 12:15 a.m. on reports of a vehicle theft in progress.

After officers got to the scene, they learned that two armed suspects had stolen a vehicle, Dayton Police Lieutenant Steven Bauer said.

“While still investigating the original theft, officers located the suspects, who had returned, attempting to steal another vehicle,” Bauer said.

The two suspects, described by police as a 13-year-old and a 16-year-old, tried to run away. They were caught and taken into custody.

The case remains under investigation.
