ANSONIA — At least two people were taken by CareFlight to the hospital after an accident early Thursday morning in Darke County, according to a media release.

The crash was reported in the area of US-127 and State Route 47 at around 12:12 a.m.
When crews arrived, they found two vehicles involved, one of them a semi, and both suffered heavy damage, according to initial scanner traffic.
A 2010 Kia Forte driven by Jessica Hernandez, 19, of Union City was traveling west on State Route 47 at US 127 but failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign traveling the path of a semi, the release said.
The semi was driven by James Taggart, 45, of Richmond, Indiana and traveling south on US-127, the sheriff’s office said.

Ms. Hernandez and her front seat passenger Ana Vilma, 23, of Union City had to be extricated from their vehicle.
Both were transported to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFight.
Taggart was treated and released at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
