Surveillance video shows deadly shooting rampage at Springfield Speedway

SPRINGFIELD — New surveillance video obtained through a public records show the moments a gunman opened fire at a Speedway gas station, killing a man and injuring three others.

A Clark County grand jury indicted a man on 11 charges, including murder, for the deadly shooting which happed earlier this month, according to court records.

The video showed who police said is Emil Witherspooon, 44, pulling up to a gas pump, getting out of the car and opening fire on a man at a gas pump and then chasing a woman inside the store, where officers said he shot her.

Witherspoon, 44, will face criminal charges including aggravated murder, murder, attempted murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence stemming from the July 10 shooting at the Speedway location on South Burnett Road, court records indicate.

Witherspoon is accused of shooting and killing Antoine Crooks, 32, of Westerville, Ohio and injuring three others including two children.

The other adult victim, Tiffany Brugler, 41, was last listed in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital however her current condition was not known. Burgler had been in a previous relationship with Witherspoon and was shot inside the convenience store.

A 6-year-old boy was shot in the leg during the incident but was treated and released from Dayton Children’s Hospital. A 7-year-old girl was also shot but has since been treated and released.

Witherspoon was arrested last Tuesday just hours after police made a request to the public to locate him. He remains booked in the Clark County Jail and is being held on a $1 million bond.
