Man arrested on murder charges after officers find woman dead in Richmond

RICHMOND, IN — A man is in the Wayne County Jail on murder charges after officers found a woman dead Friday afternoon in Richmond, Indiana.

Richmond Police officers were dispatched at 1:20 p.m. to the 1st block of South 14th Street on initial calls of a man threatening a woman with a knife, a spokesperson said.

Officers on the scene observed a dead woman identified as Michelle Dionne Peacock, 59 of Richmond. They were then directed down the street where people were attempting to subdue a man.

Investigators were called to the scene for processing and collection of evidence as well as interviewing witnesses, according to a Richmond Police spokesperson.

Tommy Wayne Earl, 67, was arrested, taken in custody, and is currently in the Wayne County Jail.

He has been charged with murder and resisting arrest, according to jail records.

Mutual aid was provided by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Richmond Fire Department, and Wayne County Coroner’s Office.
