Man struck, hospitalized from hit-and-run crash in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD — An unidentified vehicle struck and hospitalized a man late Saturday night.

Springfield Police and EMS were called to the intersection of Rice Street and Tibbetts Avenue at around 11:10 p.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian, Springfield City Dispatch informed.

The unidentified suspect and vehicle fled the scene after crashing into the pedestrian, dispatch confirmed. News Center 7 reached out to the city of Springfield for more information on the suspect. No arrests were made during the time of questioning.

Medics treated the person at the scene and called for a CareFlight transfer to Springfield Regional Medical Center, dispatch stated. The victim’s condition was unknown at the time of questioning.

Springfield Police led the investigation into the hit-and-run crash.
