Driver leaves scene after crashing car into Dayton building, officers say

DAYTON — UPDATE: @ 4:55 a.m.

A driver left the scene after crashing a car into a Dayton building early Tuesday morning.

Dayton Police officers and medics were dispatched just after 2:30 a.m. to W. Third Street and Williams Street on initial reports of a crash.

Officers told News Center 7′s Taylor Robertson that they believe the driver was going eastbound on W. Third Street before hitting the building.

“The driver fled, it’s a one-car accident,” said Sgt. Sara Lipps, Dayton Police.

Officers did not locate the driver.

The intersection reopened just around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday morning.

No one was hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.

Dayton Police officers and medics were dispatched just after 2:30 a.m. to the intersection of W. Third Street and S. Williams Street on initial reports of a crash.

Dispatchers told News Center 7 that the intersection is closed while officers are investigating but did not provide any additional information about what led to the wreck.

Images from the scene show a car suffered heavy front-end damage.

The front of a building was also damaged from the wreck.
