OHSP: 1 person dead in crash involving motorcycle in Auglaize County

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP — One person is dead after a crash involving a motorcycle Saturday evening in Auglaize County, according to a news release.

Troopers from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were called to report of a crash at around 6:48 p.m. on State Route 385, east of New Hampshire.

A red 2002 Suzuki VZ800 motorcycle was being operated by Gustavo A. Cardena, Jr., 31 of Vaughnsville, on westbound State Route 385 when drove off the right side of the roadway, struck a culvert, and then came to rest in a ditch, OHSP said.

Cardenas was thrown form the motorcycle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to Eley Funeral Homes in Wapakoneta, the release said.

Cardenas was not wearing a helmet and alcohol was not suspected in the crash, OHSP says. Next of kin has been notified.

The crash remains under investigation.
