UPDATE: Police ask for public’s help in identifying Wapakoneta bank robber

WAPAKONETA — Wapakoneta police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who robbed a bank Friday morning.

Officers were called to the Home Savings Bank at the intersection of West Auglaize and South Blackhoof streets around 10:30 a.m. after the robbery was reported, police told News Center 7.

A man entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding cash, police said. The robber fled the bank initially on foot but police believe he got away in a silver or grey car.

Investigators describe the robber as a white male, between 6-feet and 6-feet, 2-inches tall and around 180 or 200 pounds. He was wearing a silver wig, sunglasses, and a white mask, along with a grey hooded sweatshirt, blue gloves, light-colored blue jeans, and black tennis shoes, police said in a media release.

Police are asking the public for tips in identifying the suspect, as well as any video footage from security or doorbell cameras that could help investigators. If you have information or video that could help investigators, you’re asked to contact Wapakoneta police at 419-738-2222.

No injuries were reported in the robbery.
