MIDDLETOWN — One person is dead following a police shooting Saturday in Middletown that is being investigated by Ohio BCI.

Officers conducted a traffic stop around 5:19 p.m. in the parking lot of the Walmart in the 2900 block of Town Boulevard, Middletown Police Chief David Birk told News Center 7 Saturday night.
The shooting took place during the stop.
Two people were inside the vehicle and one of them was fatally shot, according to our news partner WCPO in Cincinnati.
Ohio BCI is investigating, a spokesperson for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office confirmed to News Center 7.
What led to the shooting after the traffic stop remains unknown at this time, WCPO reports.
No officers were injured and mutual aid was provided by the Ohio State Patrol, BCI and the Monroe Police Department, Chief Birk said.
