Officers were conducting an investigation of a male suspect who had multiple warrants Tuesday afternoon. Dayton police said when the officers attempted to make contact with the man, who was inside a vehicle, they noticed an AR-15 rifle in the car.

The man then rammed three cruisers and drove away from officers. Two of the man’s tires were deflated by stop sticks before he took off, starting a pursuit with police.

Dayton officers reported they were involved in a pursuit around 2:40 p.m. on East Second Street near North Irwin Street.

The pursuit continued onto Springfield Street and into portions of Riverside including Harshman Road. Speeds were reported around 70 mph during the chase, initial reports indicate.

Police said the pursuit ended on Harshman Road and the man was taken into custody. He suffered a minor injury and was taken to a local hospital to be checked out, according to police.
