DAYTON — Several Miami Valley law enforcement agencies will out in full force for up the coming Fourth of July weekend cracking down on impaired drivers, announced Thursday.

The Miami County Sheriff’s Office will be out with an aggressive traffic enforcement blitz, in a media release Thursday. Deputies will be working overtime assigned along the county and state roadways with the sole purpose of traffic enforcement and will continue through the month of July, Miami County Sheriff’s said.
The primary focus will be on removing impaired drivers and enforcing other violations along with seatbelt enforcement targeting Miami County roadways with high incidents of crashes and OVI arrests, they said.

In addition, officers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Dayton Police and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will be focusing enforcement efforts on State Route 48 on Monday, July 4, a news release said. Their focus will be on violations including reckless driving, impaired driving, distracted driving, failure to yield, and speeding.
SR-48 has been identified as one of the top routes for pedestrian related crashes in Montgomery County and officers have conducted more patrols over the years seeing a positive impact by reducing crashes and increasing safety for residents along SR-48,
