Brendan Eardly, 50, will spend the next 29 years in prison after he was convicted of soliciting and creating explicit videos and photos, a DOJ spokesperson said.

Eardly created multiple social media accounts between 2015 and 2018 on Facebook, Instagram, and Kik Messenger and communicated to over 60 juveniles worldwide, the spokesperson said in a media release Monday, citing court records.

“Eardly told some of the minors that he could be their ‘gay mentor,’ someone whom they could talk to about sex, and someone who could provide them advice about sex. The defendant sent and requested nude and sexually explicit images to and from the minors,” the spokesperson said.

In one victim’s case, Eardly sent pictures of himself to a 13-year-old boy, then bought him gifts to coerce the victim into sending him images and videos, investigators said.

Victims were reported in Ohio, Utah, Colorado, Nevada, California, and New York.

At the time of the crimes, Eardly was already a registered sex offender due to a previous sex conviction in Miami County, according to the DOJ.

Eardly is not listed as an inmate in area jail and his mugshot was not immediately available.

Additional details were not released.
