Doctor warns of increased COVID-19 exposure for kids

DAYTON — A Dayton Children’s doctor thinks more kids and adolescents will be exposed to Covid-19 because of sports or other activities.

The Chief of Infectious diseases said, while no-contact sports like baseball are ok, contact sports could be more problematic.

This week, News Center 7 told you two freshman football players in Centerville tested positive for the virus.

“I might worry a little bit if my child was playing football,” Dr. Sherman Alter said.

Since the pandemic started, Alter said the hospital has tested about 4,700 patients for Coronavirus. About 125 tests came back positive.
