Early voting begins today for May 3 primary election

Beginning today, voters can vote early for the May 3 primary election.

In Ohio, early voting begins 28 days prior to the election.

“Voting early is a great option for folks because things come up. You may have a last-minute meeting at work you may have to travel for some unexpected reason,” said Sarah Greathouse, Montgomery County Board of Elections Deputy Director. “Often these days people are unfortunately hospitalized on Election Day.”

In Montgomery County, voters can vote early from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. this week, and until 7 p.m. beginning April 11. Early voting is available at county Board of Elections offices.

If interested in voting by absentee ballot, the deadline to request one is April 30 — three days before the election. Absentee ballots are the first votes counted on election night.

Voters can drop off their absentee ballots in the Dropbox behind the Montgomery County Board of Elections or walk in to hand deliver it.
