Cheryl Coker homicide: Public joins final Texas EquuSearch

DAYTON — Texas EquuSearch has spent the last six weekend looking around the Dayton area for any signs of Cheryl Coker.

Last weekend was the first time the public could help the professionals, and on Saturday the public joined Texas EquuSearch in the last search for the Riverside woman missing since October and the subject of a homicide investigation.

Each search turned up items of interest.

“We have fanned out quite a bit. ... This will be our sixth week back here and we have covered a boatload of ground, just not the right ground but hopefully that’s going to change,” David Rader, director of the Ohio chapter of the search and recovery organization.

At the last search open to the public on March 30, there were more than 75 people, including nearly 60 volunteers from the community.

Coker was last seen Oct. 2 dropping her daughter off at school in Riverside.

Police identified Coker’s husband, Bill, as a person of interest but he has not been charged. Bill Coker also has said he is innocent.
