COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has authorized a group of 14 state troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol to help assist law enforcement in Texas with border surveillance.
The request came from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. The OSHP troopers will travel to Texas late this week for a two-week assignment. During their time, the troopers will not be making any arrests.
Last week Gov. DeWine authorized the deployment of close to 200 members of the Ohio National Guard to travel to Texas to help with non-law enforcement support to the United States Custom and Border Protection.
