The Greene County Fair Board made the announcement Tuesday night on its Facebook page.

The state has pledged $50,000 in grant money to each county fair to assist with a junior fair that would meet certain health guidelines.

“We will continue to work with the Health Department to ensure that all aspects of the Fair are safe for everyone that attends the 2020 Greene County Fair,” according to the Greene County Fair Board’s Facebook post. “Please remember this year the fair will not look the same as prior years and some events will not be held at all. These changes are only for 2020 at this time.”

Fairs that do not conduct a junior fair will receive $15,000 in grant money to help make next year’s fair operate safely.

Fair boards that have already canceled their fairs can apply for a new date with the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
