SPRINGFIELD — Springfield residents are once again able to shop for groceries locally with Groceryland’s opening on Thursday.
The new grocery is located in the old Kroger store on South Limestone Street.

“We wanted to provide fresh affordable grocery and produce in this side of town so they can have the normal life they would want and they can live a healthy life,” said co-investor Vipul Patel.
The building had sat empty since 2020 when Kroger closed its doors. Last February, Springfield residents expressed concerns and unhappiness with Kroger over their decision.
“Closing this store left the community without fresh food options and would create difficulties for some individuals to reach other grocery stores due to mobility issues,” City Manager Bryan Heck previously said in a prepared statement.

This is now the third Groceryland in the Miami Valley. The other stores are located in New Lebanon and Waynesville.
