The crash was reported around 3:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Nine Mile Road, which is located about 12 miles south of Richmond.

Savanna Kinder, 23, of Richmond, Connor Brite, 22, of Decatur, Indiana, and Jordan Fuelling, 20 also of Decatur, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police. The fourth victim, identified as Trevor Ortiz, of Decatur, was transported to an area hospital but later died from his injuries.

A preliminary investigation found a 2014 Mercedes, driven by Kinder, was traveling south of Nine Mile Road when the vehicle went off the right side of the road. State police said Kinder over-corrected her car and crashed head-on into a Ford Fusion that was traveling north, driven by Brite.

Fuelling and Ortiz were passengers in Brite’s car, according to investigators.

Excessive speed is believed to be a factor in the crash and all occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, state police said.

Additional details were not released.
