ENGLEWOOD — A semi driver was cited after troopers said he led them on a pursuit Monday morning that investigators are describing as a ‘misunderstanding’ due to a language barrier, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

State troopers attempted to stop the driver for his taillights being out on I-70 east in Preble County around 4 a.m.

The driver refused to pull over and troopers ended up using stop sticks before getting the vehicle stopped near the state Route 48 exit in Englewood.

Troopers said the driver was from India and was unclear that he was supposed to be stopping. He initially refused to get out of the cab, but after troopers were able to get him on the phone and explain the situation he got out of the cab.

The driver was cited with a misdemeanor charge of failure to comply and was released from custody, state troopers said.
