DAYTON — A child was injured during a two-vehicle crash that caused one of the vehicles to collide with a building in Dayton Saturday evening.

Dayton Police and Fire were dispatched to the intersection of Maplelawn Drive and North Main Street at 7:10 p.m. on reports of a multi-vehicle crash with possible injuries, Montgomery County Regional Dispatch confirmed.
The initial request for help detailed a child still stuck inside one of the crashed vehicles. When officers and firefighters arrived, they were able to get one person out of the vehicle.
The child reported injuries, prompting a second medical unit to respond to the scene. Medics then transported the child to Dayton Children’s Hospital for further care. The severity of their injuries were unknown at the time of questioning.
Although dispatch reported only two-vehicles being involved initially, News Center 7 Reporter Taylor Robertson reported from the crash site and showed three vehicles, including a black car and a black minivan. The car and minivan sustained front-end damage.
Initial reports stated that there was a car fire following the crash; however, dispatch and News Center 7 crews responding to the incident denied the initial reports. There was a car that was smoking, but was not on fire, dispatch assured.
During the crash, the black car rear-ended a nearby building in the 3200 block of North Main Street.
The bottom of the building and its windows were damaged from the crash, but was not significant enough to cause issues to the structural integrity. Crews stated the building was “not in danger of collapse.”
Officials were scheduled to analyze the extent of the damage on Monday.

The Dayton Police Department led the investigation into the crash.
