DARKE COUNTY — Two people have died and two others hurt in a crash at the intersection of Hunter Road and state Route 49 Thursday morning, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
Hearold Evans, 86, of Fort Recovery, and Coty Alterman, 27, of Troy, died following the two-car crash Thursday morning.
Deputies said Alterman was driving a car west on Hunter Road when he failed to yield to a van going south on State Route 49 around 8 a.m.

The crash sent both the van and car off the road. Evans was a rear passenger of the van. Evans was thrown from the vehicle in the crash and died at the scene, according to a release.
Alderman and the driver of the van, Rex Zizelman, 74, of Celina, were taken by Mobile Intensive Care Units to Miami Valley Hospital.
Alderman died from his injuries at the hospital, deputies said in an updated media release.
Zizelman is listed in critical condition, deputies said.
The front-seat passenger in the van, Roxine Beals, 53, of Celina, also was taken to Miami Valley Hospital. She is listed in stable condition, according to investigators.
