MERCER COUNTY — A 65-year-old man is dead after a motorcycle crash in Mercer County on Saturday, according to Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey.

Around 4:20 p.m., Mercer County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Smith Road, north of SR-117, on reports of a motorcycle crash.
A preliminary investigation found that Vincent Blossom, 65, of Rockford was driving a 2020 gray Indian motorcycle southbound on Smith Road at the time of the crash, according to Grey.
Blossom “failed to negotiate” a curve, ran off the east side of the roadway, and hit a pole.
Grey said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Blossom was pronounced dead on scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review, according to Grey.
