1-year-old dead, 1 seriously injured after crash on I-75 in Vandalia

VANDALIA — UPDATE @ 4 p.m.

A 1-year-old is dead and another person is seriously injured after a crash on Interstate 75 in Vandalia Monday night.

Ohio State Highway Patrol was called to a two-car accident on I-75 northbound near I-70 just after 9 p.m.

Troopers said that a Nissan Rogue, driven by Kristen Williams, 24, of Troy, was traveling north on I-75 in the left lane when she struck a disabled International 400 driven by Koree Thompson, 47, of Bellfontaine that was in the left lane and shoulder.

After striking the International 400, Williams’ car overturned and hit the median wall.

Williams’ was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

Her passenger, a 1-year-old child, died from his injuries at the scene.

Thompson was not injured.

There are no charges filed at this time and the crash remains under investigation, according to OSP.

All lanes of Northbound I-75 were closed at I-70, and ramps from both Eastbound and Westbound I-70 to I-75 were also closed.
