1 person dead, another injured after car drives into Ohio pond

FRANKLIN COUNTY — One person is dead and another is injured after a car drove into a pond in Franklin County Friday evening.

Around 5:40 p.m. Friday, a Hyundai Accent was driving southbound on Gateway Court near the entrance to an Amazon warehouse when the driver lost control and drove off the road into a pond, our news partners at WBNS-10 TV reported.

The passenger of the vehicle was able to get out of the vehicle but the driver had to be rescued by divers, according to Madison Township Fire Chief Derek Robinson.

Both occupants were taken to Grant Medical Center.

The driver was pronounced dead at the hospital and the passenger is listed as being in stable condition.

The car was removed from the water to be processed by police.

The crash remains under investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
