HUBER HEIGHTS — One person was taken to the hospital after a fire in Huber Heights Thursday morning.

As reported on News Center 7 Daybreak, Huber Heights firefighters responded to the 4500 block of Kapp around 3:40 a.m.

When crews arrived on the scene, the fire was in an attic space that had been converted to a bedroom, according to Robert Williams, battalion chief with Huber Heights Fire Division.
Multiple people in the home were able to make it out safely.
One person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
Multiple pets were taken from the home with a few still missing, Williams said.
Damages to the home are estimated at $100,000.
On top of battling flames, firefighters had to fight bitterly cold temperatures.
Medic units were called to the scene to help keep firefighters out of the cold.
