1 injured after head-on crash on U.S. 127 in Darke County

DARKE COUNTY — One person is in the hospital after a head-on crash on U.S. 127 in Darke County Wednesday morning, according to deputies.

The crash was reported around 6 a.m. on U.S. 127 and Hollansburg-Sampson Road, south of Greenville. The driver of a white Chevrolet Silverado tried to pass multiple vehicles in heavy fog moments before the crash, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

A black Ford F-350 was traveling southbound at the same time and the vehicles collided after trying to swerve and avoid the crash.

The driver of the Chevy was pulled from the truck and treated on scene before being taken to Miami Valley Hospital by a CareFlight Mobile Intensive Care Unit. His condition is unknown, according to deputies.

The other driver was not injured and refused treatment.

New Madison Fire, Arcanum Rescue, and Darke County deputies all responded to the scene.
