‘We need medics here ASAP;” Frantic 911 calls detail moments after shooting in Dayton

DAYTON — Multiple 911 calls show the chaos following a shooting in Dayton Tuesday evening.

Around 6:50 p.m. Dayton police and medics were called to the 500 block of South Paul Laurence Dunbar Street to reports of a shooting, according to Montgomery County regional dispatch.

“I need a medic here ASAP... my sister has been shot,” a caller frantically tells dispatchers.

Dispatchers ask the caller if she knows who shot her sister.

“They are still here, they [are] still shooting,” the caller tells them.

The caller later tells dispatchers that an officer has arrived on the scene and is looking at a gunshot wound on the victim’s leg.

Around 6:05 p.m. dispatchers received a call from the same address from a woman who said she had got into a fight with her child’s father’s girlfriend.

Dispatch notes confirm that less than an hour prior to the shooting police received reports of a domestic dispute.

One person was taken from the scene to the hospital, according to dispatch records.

The suspect ran from the scene before police arrived.

We are working to learn if the domestic dispute and the shooting were connected as well as the condition of the person hurt.
