MARION — An over 100-year-old time capsule was found at an Ohio fire station that was set to be demolished last month.
An old fire station in Marion, Ohio, around 50 miles north of Columbus, was in the process of being demolished when crews made a discovery while removing the cornerstone for preservation.
Inside firefighters found a box that had not seen the light of day since 1905, according to a social media post by the Marion Fire Department.
When firefighters opened the box they found items including turn-of-the-century fire department badges, newspapers from July 1905, the original lease for the property, staff rosters and more.
The fire department said the items will be kept at the Marion County Historical Society while the new station is built and then will be placed in a display case.
