The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office has identified Isabellas Amor-Carlos, 12, as the victim.

Amor-Carlos’ family previously identified her as the victim to News Center 7′s Mike Campbell.

Amor-Carlos, a Charity Adams Earley Girls Academy student, was found by her younger sister.

The home, as well as at least one other neighboring house, were hit by gunfire. Police found over 30 rifle shell casings at the scene and said the shots came from the direction of the street. Johns said it appeared that there were two shooters.

“It is crucial we solve this crime,” Johns said. “A 12-year-old girl asleep in her bed and she was murdered in front of her family.”

The killing of Amor-Carlos is part of a terrible trend. There have been 28 homicide investigations in Dayton so far this year. As reported on News Center 7 at 6:00, eight of those victims have been juveniles under the age of 18, and, in all, 10 of the victims, more than a third, have been young people ages 18 or younger.

Police are asking that anyone with information on the shooting contact Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at either (937) 222-7867 or https://www.miamivalleycrimestoppers.com/.

“We must solve this,” Johns said.
