SPRINGFIELD — Two people are facing aggravated robbery charges after police say they assaulted a clerk at the Shell on West North Street and stole over $600 in merchandise, according to Clark County court records.
Matthew Parrish, 33, of Dayton, and Ruby Arden, 32, of Springfield, were arrested after police got to the Shell around 9:45 p.m. and spotted the clerk being assaulted behind the counter.

Arden and Parrish kicked and punched the victim several times and Arden was also holding a hammer in her hand, police said in court records.
“There was also a baseball bat collected that was near the victim,” court records read. “Officers were unsure if the baseball bat was used by the victim or the suspects.”
While patting down Arden and Parrish, police ended up recovering items that belonged to the Shell station and officers also ended up finding some of the property from the business in the bed of Arden’s pickup truck in the parking lot, court records show. Police recovered $661 worth of items that belonged to the Shell station, including cigarettes, energy drinks and alcohol.
The clerk had several cuts and bruises to his face.
Parrish was listed as an inmate in the Clark County Jail Friday morning, however Arden was no longer listed on the jail roster.
