VANDALIA — Some people had to sleep somewhere else after an apartment fire in Vandalia Wednesday night.

Vandalia firefighters responded around 6:30 p.m. to the 300 block of South Brown School Road on reports of a fire.

Vandalia Fire Captain Derek Copp told News Center 7 that they kept the flames contained to one apartment.
“Crews arrived on the scene, (they) were able to see fire coming out from the window. They were able to make a knockdown on it from the outside and confined it to just one room,” he said.
Vandalia Fire posted on social media that two residents were displaced.
Police closed Brown School Road while firefighters were at the scene.
No one was hurt.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
