LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — Two men were arrested after Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies found 65.5 grams of drugs and other paraphernalia during a traffic stop.

On Dec. 11 around 10:52 p.m., deputies with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle for multiple equipment and traffic-related violations on State Route 2, in Painesville Township, according to a post on social media.

When deputies approached the vehicle, the driver rolled down the window and a “strong smell of burnt marijuana indicated the driver was smoking marijuana while driving,” according to the post.
Both the driver and the passenger were asked if they had a weapon, and both said they did not.
The driver, identified as 32-year-old Jerome Jackson of Painesville, was asked to step out of the vehicle.
Police found drugs and a loaded handgun on his person during a pat down.
The passenger, identified as 31-year-old, Giovanni Gibson of Painesville was also asked to step out of the vehicle, and deputies found drugs and a loaded handgun on him as well.
Further investigation led to the seizure of around 21 grams of crack cocaine, 16 grams of cocaine, 3.5 grams of heroin, and 25 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.
Deputies also found digital scales, baggies, and other items consistent with drug distribution.
Both Jackson and Gibson were taken into custody and are being held in the Lake County Jail.
Jackson was charged with multiple felony drug and felony weapons offenses, while Gibson faces felony and misdemeanor weapons-related charges.
