2, including child, taken to hospital after car crashes into pole in Dayton

DAYTON — Two people were taken to the hospital after a car crashed into a pole on North Main Street at the intersection of Elm Hill Drive in Dayton.

Around 6:45 p.m. deputies were dispatched to an injury crash with a car into a pole, according to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Initial investigation found that a Chevrolet Equinox was traveling north on North Main Street approaching the intersection of Poplar Steet without headlights illuminated.

A pick-up truck traveling south on North Main Street was turning left onto Poplar Street when it was struck by the Equinox.

The driver and a child in the Chevy Equinox were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured, according to the release.

Video from the scene shows a white SUV with heavy damage to the front right bumper and airbags deployed.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
