COSHOCTON COUNTY — A 2-year-old girl died after reportedly falling then drowning in a creek in central Ohio Friday night.

The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call reporting a drowning in the 55000 block of Township Road 175 at around 9 p.m., a spokesperson for the department wrote on their Facebook account.
As deputies arrived, they discovered a 2-year-old girl who fell in the creek and became unresponsive, prompting medical units to respond.
Medics then transported the child to Genesis Coshocton Medical Center, where she was later flown to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She succumbed to her injuries after the relocation and died.
The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office led the ongoing investigation into the incident.
The county sheriff’s office was assisted by the West Lafayette Fire Department and Coshocton County EMS.
