The Dayton post of Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 southbound near West Alex Bell Road at 3:44 a.m., dispatchers for the department said.

When state troopers arrived, they discovered three vehicles crashed into the concrete median wall causing damage to both the southbound and northbound side. The Ohio Department of Transportation responded to the scene to clean up the debris and fix the damaged wall, dispatchers said.

The extent of the damage and the efforts to fix the median wall caused crews to work past 8 a.m., continuing to block lanes on both the southbound and northbound side for over six hours.

The left lane on both directions of the highway were blocked during this time.

The Ohio Department of Transportation recommended taking an alternate route as delays extended past 10 minutes to 25 minutes, at times, in either direction of the highway.

Only minor injuries were reported and no transports to local hospitals were made.

The Dayton post of Ohio State Highway Patrol led the investigation into the crash.
