33-year-old man dead after shooting near Arby’s in Dayton

DAYTON — A man is dead after a shooting in Dayton early Sunday morning, Dayton Police Department Lieutenant Steven Bauer confirmed.

Dayton police responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 12:33 a.m. in the 2800 block of Salem Avenue near the Arby’s.

When crews arrived, they found a 33-year-old man. The victim died on scene.

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Morrell Fontenot.

The Dayton Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating this incident.
