DAYTON — Several people, including a child, were able to escape an early morning house fire in Dayton.
The fire was reported just before 4 a.m. at the corner of Cincinnati Street and Decatur Avenue.
Crews said when they arrived, they could see heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof.
District Chief Adam Landis with Dayton Fire Department said that a passerby had originally reported the fire.

When crews got inside the home, four people, including a child and a dog, were sleeping.
Firefighters were able to wake the sleeping family, and everyone was able to escape.
Once everyone was evacuated from the house, the roof collapsed.
No one was hurt.
The fire is currently under investigation, but crews say it’s not suspicious.
A salt truck was called in to help after water from the fire made the road and sidewalks slick.
Firefighters say during the winter people can help by shoveling snow away from hydrants.
We will continue to update this story once we learn more.
