4-week-old girl dies days after I-675 crash in Sugarcreek Twp., state troopers say

SUGARCREEK TWP. — A 4-week-old girl injured in a multi-vehicle crash on I-675 in Sugarcreek Twp. Sunday, has died days after the crash, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The girl, whose name was not immediately released, died at Dayton Children’s Hospital Wednesday after suffering critical injuries in the crash on I-675 Sunday night, state troopers said in a media release Thursday. The girl was one of two juveniles who suffered serious injuries and sent a total of nine people to area hospitals for treatment.

State troopers did not release the conditions of the others injured in the crash, but said the people hurt suffered “various degrees of injury,” state troopers said in the release.

A preliminary investigation found a Ford SUV, driven by Samuel Lawson, 30, of Dayton, was traveling north on I-675 when he crashed into a minivan, driven by Dylan White, 29, of Dayton, and a car driven by Rodney Beard, 56, also of Dayton.

State troopers said the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Previously, Sugarcreek Twp. firefighters told News Center 7 construction along the stretch of I-675 was a contributing factor.
