NEW DETAILS: Toddler hit by vehicle in Dayton darted into street

DAYTON — A toddler boy is expected to recover after being hit by a car on Ohmer Street Sunday.

The crash happened in the 1600 block of Ohmer around 2:30 p.m.

According to a Dayton crash report, the driver said she was on her way to Kroger, when she saw a wedding happening at a church right before the crash happened.

The driver told police the toddler ran into the street from the sidewalk and that’s when she tried to stop, but ended up hitting him, the report read.

Police said the toddler was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital, but is was going to be OK.

The incident report showed the toddler was not crossing the street properly and there are no citations issued as of Tuesday morning, the report showed.
