MERCER COUNTY — A 47-year-old man is dead after a crash in Mercer County Tuesday evening, according to a spokesperson with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred on State Route 707 west of Wabash Road in Blackcreek Township around 5:50 p.m.

Anthony Cole, 47, of Celina, was driving a Chevy passenger van eastbound on SR-707 and an Indiana man was driving a Peterbilt semi-tractor and gooseneck trailer westbound on SR-707 at the time of the crash.
A preliminary investigation found that Cole went left of center and crashed into the semi for an unknown reason, according to the spokesperson.
Cole was pronounced dead on scene.
This crash remains under investigation and will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
The spokesperson said this is the first deadly crash in Mercer County this year.
