2 men, 3 teens identified in deadly crash in Ohio

CLERMONT COUNTY — UPDATE @3:45 p.m.

Two men and three teenagers are dead after two cars ended up in a ditch in Ohio.

Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) troopers from the Batavia Post responded at 1:43 a.m. to State Route 28 at Edenton Pleasant Plain Road in Goshen Township, according to an OSHP spokesperson.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 2005 Chrysler northeast on State Route 28 hit a 2007 Subaru Legacy as it attempted to cross State Route 28.

Both cars went off the side of the road and into an embankment.

Mathew Penny, 25, of Cincinnati was identified as the driver of the Chrysler, and Dustin McDole, 43, of Goshen, drove the Subaru. Both were pronounced dead by the Clermont County Coroner’s Office, OSHP said.

There were three passengers in Penny’s car. Chole Love, 19, Dezmen Jernigan, 18, and Ayden Taylor, 18. Lover and Jernigan were pronounced dead by the coroner while medics transported Taylor to UC Medical with life-threatening injuries.

Andrea Iery, 42, rode with McDole and died at the scene, OSHP stated.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

The crash remains under investigation.
