LORAIN — Six juveniles and three adults were charged with stealing several Kia and Hyundai cars in about a month period.

Lorain Police Chief Jim McCann announced the charges against a total of nine suspects for stealing or attempting to steal more than 50 cars between May 6 and June 15 as a part of a “criminal organization.”
The nine suspects were taken into custody and later arrested. The suspects were identified as six juveniles, the youngest being 13 years old, and three adults. The adults were identified as Rafeal Miranda, 19, of Lorain; Nathaniel Bailey, 19, of Lorain; and Trenton Mielcarek, 18, or Lorain.
Many of the suspects had prior encounters with law enforcement with some of them still on probation for previous criminal activity, and subsequent convictions. Some were currently facing unrelated criminal charges.
One adult and four juveniles involved in the “motor vehicle theft ring” were taken into custody at a home in the 2300 block of East 37th Street on June 9, WOIO reported.
Additional suspects were arrested on Lorain’s east side.
