AKRON — A 7-year-old boy was injured in a shooting early Saturday morning, according to our CBS affiliate WOIO-19 TV.

Akron police were called to the 400 block of Wildwood Avenue on reports of a shooting around 2:45 a.m.

Upon arrival, they found a 7-year-old with a gunshot wound.
Medics transported the boy to Akron Children’s Hospital, where he had surgery.
WOIO-19 reported that the child’s injuries are serious, but he’s in stable condition.
Police are working to learn what led up to the shooting but believe an unknown suspect fired a gun inside an upstairs apartment.
At least one bullet went through the floor and hit the boy in the apartment below, according to WOIO-19.
Officers didn’t find anyone while searching upstairs but did find a bullet hole in the floor.
This shooting remains under investigation.
