PIQUA — An alligator in the Great Miami River? That’s what someone reported to Piqua police Monday evening.

After receiving a call from someone reporting an alligator swimming in the Great Miami, Piqua police responded to look for the alligator themselves. Officers searched the area near the Shawnee Bridge, but didn’t see any signs of the alligator.

Last August, a 7½foot crocodile was found in the Bantas Fork Creek in West Alexandria. The crocodile was spotted as more than a dozen kids were playing in the creek. The crocodile was shot and killed.
