Springfield man, 74, missing since Monday is found alive after search

CLARK COUNTY — UPDATE @ 2:02 p.m.:

A 74-year-old missing Springfield man who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease has been found alive and is being provided medical attention after being found in a wooded area where police have been searching for him since this morning.

Jack Dietsch’s vehicle was found around 8:15 a.m. abandoned in a field in the area of Titus Lane in Springfield Twp., Clark County.

Multiple officers from different Clark County agencies responded. An airplane, a drone and K-9 units initially were used to try to find Dietsch, authorities said, but were unable to do so. Officers began a ground search this afternoon, which led to Dietsch.

UPDATE @ 9:19 a.m.

A black Chevrolet Cruze owned by Jack W. Dietsch, a missing 74-year-old man from Springfield, was found Thursday morning in Springfield Twp.

According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Dietsch has not been located and an extensive search of the area with a K-9 unit is planned to take place.

Dietsch, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, was last seen Monday and does not have medications on him, according to authorities.

FIRST REPORT: 

Officers are reportedly searching in the area of a vehicle found abandoned in the area of Titus Lane in Clark County, according to initial dispatch reports.

Initial reports indicated officers may be looking for a person who was reported missing to authorities.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol also was contacted to possibly provide an aircraft to assist with the search, reports indicated.
