GREENE COUNTY — Multiple children were left empty-handed after an easter egg hunt went wrong in Greene County over the weekend.
“Everyone was very upset with the outcome of the Egg Hunt, and the way they were treated by community members at the conclusion of the event,” a post by The Greene management team on social media stated.
The event was intended to start with 1 and 2-year-olds starting first at a designated area, followed by 3 and 4-year-olds, then every other child would be allowed to hunt.

The post said from the get-go staff members had problems keeping people away from certain areas and when they gathered the 1 and 2-year-olds to head to their designated hunting area parents rushed into the grassy area and begin picking up eggs.
This prompted all other participants to rush out and begin hunting, although the younger children were supposed to get a head start.
‘Adults were not permitted to pick up eggs, yet we saw so many doing so, which resulted in some children leaving empty-handed,” the post reads.
More than 2,000 eggs were hidden.
“We saw grown adults pushing children out of the way, and people getting knocked over,” the post said.
The Greene’s management thanked those who helped at the event and apologized for the way they were treated.
