TROY — Leaders in Troy decided on the future of adult-use marijuana sales in the city on Monday.

City Council voted to adopt an ordinance that prohibits the sale of adult-use marijuana within city limits.
Ordinances related to allowing one medical marijuana dispensary and one adult-use marijuana dispensary within city limits were postponed indefinitely.
During public comment, Bradley Boehringer told council members he disagreed with their decision.

“Fifty-two percent of voters voted for Issue 2, you just told them tonight by passing this ban that their votes don’t matter,” Boehringer said.
He added it was safer to use marijuana from a dispensary rather than “off the street.”
“At least with a marijuana dispensary it would have been tested, regulated and we know what was in it,” he said.
Boehringer told city council members he plans to pursue a referendum.
